AN UPDATE FROM THE ELDERS
Tuesday, November 17, 2020
The Spiritual health of the individual and the church body is the most import issue, while still acknowledging the physical health concerns in our community. While the decision to consolidate and to delay our class schedule was not taken lightly, we feel it best for the continued health of our body and our community.
Beginning on Wednesday 11/18/2020 we will be consolidating our Wednesday night classes. We will be offering an adult class in the Auditorium on Heroes of Faith beginning at 7 pm. The Auditorium class is open to all who can attend and will also be streamed live. We will not have any children classes on Wednesday nights. The class schedule will continue to be evaluated and the children classes will begin at a later time. Our Sunday morning Bible classes will be delayed and will not begin on 12/8/2020. We will continue to gather on Sunday mornings for worship at 10 am.
To aide in your spiritual health, we have the following classes available. We encourage all of our members to join us either in person or via livestream.
Tuesday morning Men’s Bible Study starts at 7 am in the back room of Molly Monday’s.
Tuesday morning Ladies Class starts at 10 am in the Banquet room. (Resumes 12/1/2020).
Wednesday Bible Study the Book of Acts starts at 2 pm in the Auditorium.
Wednesday night Bible Study Heroes of Faith starts at 7 pm in the Auditorium.
Sunday morning worship starts at 10 am in the Auditorium.
SPROUTS training hour begins after the Lords Supper.
SYG (Savannah Youth Group) will meet Wednesday’s at 7 pm and Sunday’s at 9:30 am in the Ministry Building.
We thank you for your continued support and consideration during this difficult time in our nation and community.

A MESSAGE FROM THE EU BOARD

Remember how we used to talk about our plans leading up to 2020? EU even jumped on the “2020 Vision” bandwagon! It’s safe to say that none of those vision statements included words like “social distancing” or COVID 19! And yet as surprised as all of us were about the way things have turned out, we serve a God Who knew exactly what was going to happen and how He was going to use it for His glory!
The early church didn’t know exactly what was going to happen when Stephen was stoned and a persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem. But they had already prayed in Acts 4 acknowledging that God was in control of every bad thing that happened to Jesus and had worked it out for the salvation of His people. They prayed not that God would put an end to the difficult times that were beginning, but that He would give them the boldness to speak His word in the middle of difficult times!
They were still huddling in Jerusalem, but when Saul led a persecution of Christians, they were forced out of the city and the gospel began its march into the rest of the world that needed the message of Jesus just as badly as they did!
We were looking forward to getting together for another great weekend of EU in 2021. But because of the way that we pack entire youth groups into the homes of the Savannah members, we just didn’t feel like God left that door open to us this year. But just like He used the persecution of the church in Acts 8 to get the church out of their comfort zone in Jerusalem for great things to happen, perhaps God is pushing EU out of its comfort zone for great things to happen!
So here’s the plan:
Instead of only being able to pack one weekend full of great speakers and encouragement in Savannah, we want to bring EU to your congregation through videos and resources for 5 weeks starting on the first Wednesday night of the new year. And we are going to do this completely free of charge!
Our hope and prayer is that this will give all of us a better chance to put into practice what we are learning during EU instead of waiting until after a weekend event. We can’t wait to share these resources with you and challenge your group to take action.
You know maybe, just maybe, God has prepared this teenage generation to be perfectly suited to spread the gospel in the middle of a pandemic because of your fluency in all things media.
We hope you will join us. Watch for more details at evangelismuniversity.net or follow us on facebook, twitter, and instagram at the links below. But for now, spread the word, and share this with anyone else who might be excited to see what God can do with a couple thousand Christians who are willing to follow His lead with the power of the gospel. Stay tuned and mark your calendars for Jan.6!
As We Come Back to Together
June 4, 2020
The first and most important thing to remember this Sunday is we, as the body of Christ – the Church, are coming together for the purpose of worship. In fact, that is what we will be studying during our worship time – WORSHIP.
A few important things to note however are:
PLEASE USE THE FRONT DOORS
The doors that will be propped open for your access to the building will be the 3 doors across the front of the building, the North entrance with canopy as well as the Love and Learn doors. All other doors will remain locked.
As you enter please pick up pre-packaged communion in zip-lock baggies. Baggies will have one cup or two cups. Please pick up enough for your family (and hang onto the zip-lock baggies – more to follow on that).
If you have children, also as you enter there will be packages for all of our Sprouts group to pick up that will go along with and aid in their time of worship as well.
CHOOSING A SEAT
When you enter the auditorium, you will notice that every other row has been marked off. There is exactly 6 feet between each pew marked off.You are encouraged to sit in family units but it is not mandatory.
With this in mind everyone is asked to simply respect social distancing practices of others.
BE RESPECTFUL & MINDFUL OF OTHERS
With respectfulness in mind, please realize that not everyone has the same comfort level of space as you may have. So, please be respectful of their space and social distancing practices. If you intend to shake a hand or give a hug, please do not take offense if someone chooses not to do so. This is not meant to be offensive but is the reality during this time everyone has different comfort levels of social distancing. The main thing that is encouraged is to treat everyone with love and respect of their personal preferences. We are Christians and brothers and sisters in Christ so let’s do everything love with respect for one another.
WORSHIP IS A TIME WITH THE FATHER
Our service will be conducted as we had been prior to this pandemic. Worship the Lord in spirit and truth.
If you prefer to wear a mask during our time together you are welcome to do so, but again realize not everyone may be wearing a mask and you are encouraged to be mindful, loving and respectful of each other’s preferences during this time.
PLEASE EXIT THE BUILDING AFTER WORSHIP HAS ENDED THROUGH THE NEAREST AUDITORIUM DOORS
At the conclusion of our service, you are asked to exit to the exit door of the auditorium nearest you – remaining respectful and considerate of others social distancing practices.
At each exit of the auditorium the plan is to have garbage cans for you to throw away your prepackaged communion cups put back in the zip-lock baggies.
Also, as you exit the building there will be buckets or plates for you to place your contribution/offering. There will be a locked box located in the main foyer/lobby area.
The goal is for everyone to feel as comfortable as possible while we worship The Almighty God together, seeking also to encourage one another, yet practice social distancing to some degree and respect each person’s personal preferences. Thank you for your cooperation as we come back together as the body!
